Not at the airshow itself, but just after the BBMF display on the sunday, but at Thorpe Camp. She circled over the museum twice just after the Spitfires done a quick fly-past, this was the best that I could do as I had RED flashing battery lights, also IAF ? warning lights at the same time. Anyway at least I caught it, though sadly not the superb sound of those four engines as it passed so close above us.
I know what you mean Paul. I remember walking up the old runway at Woolfox Lodge with Jerry as the Lanc appeared in the distance and flew straight over the old airfield. Standing on the old runway with the sight and sound of the Lanc flying overhead was a real 'moment'. Much better than an airshow appearance. The same happened at Deenethorpe as me and WiganMick were walking along the runway there and the Spitfire and Hurricane thundered over there. Brilliant. If only Sally B had followed them over the old B-17 base. Now that would have been something.
The highlight of the day was meeting up with Major MOSA AL FAIFI of the Saudi Hawks and watching as his guest, from the control tower the display of the Saudi Hawks. Thanks Faifi for a wonderful time, something I will always remember. Picture of me with Faifi after he had given all three of us ( Debbie and Gavin) a Saudi Hawks Pin to wear, THANKS ONCE AGAIN my friend This taken with my camera by a friend
